EVAN101 is a 3-credit course in the Year 1 program at Sozo Bible College.

12-Week Course Outline

1. Week 1 The Heart of the Great Commission

   Examining Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, and Acts 1:8 as the foundation and ongoing mandate of every believer's calling — not a specialized ministry track but the normal Christian life.

2. Week 2 Why We Hesitate: Overcoming Fear in Witness

   An honest look at the fear, shame, and pride that keep believers silent, paired with biblical examples (Moses, Jeremiah, Peter) of God using flawed, fearful people anyway.

3. Week 3 The Gospel in Plain Language

   Students learn to articulate the core Gospel message clearly and simply — sin, the cross, resurrection, response — in language a stranger could understand on first hearing.

4. Week 4 Listening Before Speaking

   Effective evangelism begins with genuine listening. This week trains students in asking good questions and hearing a person's real story before presenting the Gospel, modeled on Jesus' approach with the woman at the well (John 4).

5. Week 5 Evangelism as an Act of Love, Not a Sales Pitch

   Confronting manipulative or fear-based evangelism tactics directly, and re-rooting the practice in genuine love for the person in front of you (1 Corinthians 13), not a result to be achieved.

6. Week 6 Answering Honest Objections

   A practical look at common objections (suffering, exclusivity of Christ, science and faith, hypocrisy in the church) and how to respond with humility, honesty, and grace rather than defensiveness.

7. Week 7 Evangelism Across Cultures

   Examining Paul's approach at Mars Hill (Acts 17) as a model for contextualizing the Gospel without compromising it — students consider how to share faith respectfully across cultural and religious backgrounds.

8. Week 8 Power Evangelism: Signs, Healing, and the Spirit's Confirmation

   Connecting directly to PNEU101's foundation, this week examines the New Testament pattern of the Gospel confirmed by signs and healing (Mark 16:20, Acts 4) without sensationalism or manipulation.

9. Week 9 Discipleship: What Comes After a Decision

   A new believer left unsupported rarely grows. This week trains students in the basics of following up and discipling someone who has just come to faith, so evangelism leads to genuine transformation, not a one-time event.

10. Week 10 Global Missions: Understanding the Unreached

    An introduction to global missions — unreached people groups, the realities of cross-cultural ministry, and the call some students may have toward long-term missions work.

11. Week 11 Evangelism in Your Everyday Context

    A practical planning week: students map out the actual people and relationships in their own life and context where they're called to be a faithful witness, moving from theory to a real plan.

12. Week 12 A Lifetime of Faithful Witness

    Synthesizing the course into a sustainable, joy-filled lifelong posture of witness — avoiding both evangelism burnout and evangelism neglect, closing with a personal commitment to ongoing faithfulness.
